Gunter glieben glauchen globen

We were driving the other day and some syrupy version of Def Leppard came on the radio. It was a song from their Hysteria album. I had to roll my eyes as I told The Gorgeous Blonde how disappointed I was when I bought the cassette and couldn't make it through three songs before I just gave up on the band.

They used to rock. Then they got old.

Same thing happened to the The Rolling Stones. Even George Carlin spent the last ten years of his career sounding less comedian and more cranky old bastard.

The smart ones knew to quite while they were ahead. Led Zepplin said no mas after John Bonham died. Steve Martin walked away from stand-up at the time he was the largest comedian on the planet.

And then there's the 27s: James Dean, Jim Morrison, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin... still others... all who died at 27 while their stars were the brightest.

Can you imagine James Dean growing old, fat and pathetic like Brando?

Still cooler than you'll ever be

There really isn't much point to this. I'm just sipping coffee, thinking out loud.

I have to go to Rosamond, California this morning.

I said Rosamond, not Rosamund.
May your day be filled with people who understand what the fast lane is for.
